Our intellectually impaired son Kyle is often featured in my paintings. He is the perfect expression of love that gets stretched and shaped in unique ways to adapt to a different way of thinking and to ensure that he reaches his full potential against the odds.
He has a unique way of seeing the world and loves to pose for me whilst declaring loudly “This will make a good portrait Mum”. He can also pull really good faces that seem to express, without guile, every emotion that he feels so intensely.
He loves dogs, shells, Lego and good food. He also loves to pick up rubbish and volunteers at Vinnies where he is called “The Boss”. He is treasured beyond words.
